While the second season is now five episodes in, an Edens Zero Season 1 recap movie was just released on Crunchyroll. This should help fans who want a Season 1 refresher if they’ve already forgotten some of the details.
This new recap movie was announced by Crunchyroll and was released over the weekend.
As its name implies, it’s a movie-length anime that recaps the most important moments of the first season.
Not a lot of people expected this recap, but it’s a welcome one for fans who have yet to start watching the second season.
Anime Recap Movies: Not a Recent Trend
Anime film recaps are not exactly common, but they’re also not a new thing.
Over the last couple of years, there have been some anime series that got recap movies.
Sometimes, they’re made so that a series can get a cinema release in Japan, which makes sense given the increasing trend of anime cinema releases, especially in the country.
Meanwhile, others are made for special DVD and Blu-ray releases. Though whatever the case may be, these recap movies are helpful so that fans can get a refresher on what happened previously.
One of the earlier examples of this is Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex.
After the anime’s two seasons ended in 2005, two 160-minute-long OVA films were released which were essentially movie versions of the two seasons.
There are also two Made in Abyss movies titled Journey’s Dawn and Wandering Twilight.
However, these aren’t exactly recap movies as they are full compilations of the first season.

Edens Zero Season 1 Recap Movie Release Date and Availability
Edens Zero Season 1 getting a recap film is a surprise given that it hasn’t been all that long since it ended.
Of course, given that it’s a recap movie, it’s not ideal to watch just this movie for viewers who have not watched the first season.
Though the release makes sense not just as a refresher as the first season is unavailable on Crunchyroll. Instead, Season 1 is streaming on Netflix.
The recap movie was released on Crunchyroll on April 29, and it is available in North America, Central America, South America, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, CIS, India, and certain parts of Europe.
Edens Zero’s recap movie is unavailable in Spain, Portugal, Italy, and French and German-speaking countries.
Meanwhile, new episodes of Edens Zero Season 2 are released every week on Crunchyroll.
