As fans eagerly await the series’ second season, it was revealed that the Edens Zero manga is now on its final arc. This means the series’ ending is on the horizon.
The series entering its final arc was announced in the combined 4th and 5th issues of Weekly Shonen Magazine which were released last week.
Hiro Mashima’s Announcement
Edens Zero’s ending has not been announced yet, but it’s fair to say that we can expect to see its finale sometime in the next year or so. This also marks the end of another era for its creator, Hiro Mashima.
While Edens Zero is a big hit, Mashima has written other, arguably even bigger hits. Prior to his latest serialization, Mashima worked on Fairy Tail, the fantasy adventure manga series that is one of the best-selling manga titles of all time.
Fairy Tail is a popular series worldwide, also thanks in large part to the anime series adaptation by A1 Pictures that aired from 2009 to 2019.
Though before this series, Mashima also worked on another best-selling manga series entitled Rave Master. Like Fairy Tail, Rave Master has sold millions of volume copies worldwide and has also been adapted into a TV anime.
Mashima’s latest work began serialization in 2018 and is currently 24 volumes long.
While it might end its run a bit earlier compared to his previous major shonen works, Edens Zero is still a success, especially as it has a popular anime adaptation.

What This Means for the Edens Zero Anime
The two-cour first season of the Edens Zero anime covered the first 69 chapters of the manga. If the next season will cover around the same number of chapters, this should mean season 2 will cover up to Chapter 140.
Given that the manga is now over 220 chapters in length, there’s still more than enough source material for a third season.
Even if Edens Zero is now on its final arc, the manga will likely have well over a season’s worth of content. Given this, the manga ending shouldn’t worry fans of the anime.
Of course, we’ll have to wait and see if this forthcoming end to the manga will affect the anime in any way. What we can say for sure is that Edens Zero Season 2 will premiere in April 2023.
