Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves BTS Video Highlights Jarnathan's Impressive Practical Effects

If you were one of the millions of people who watched Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves this weekend, there's a good chance you thought Jarnathan was one of the best things about the movie. After all, the bird-man proved to be an important part of a major escape plan for Edgin and Holga. Now, a behind-the-scenes video confirms that the aarakocra could have used his wings to fly away from Revel's End.

In Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, Edgin and Holga made an appeal to be pardoned after being imprisoned in the Revel's End prison for two years. Although most of the council is present, Edgin keeps stalling as he waits for Jarnathan, a council member who is running late. When Jarnathan finally arrives, it is revealed that he is an aarakocra or an eagle man and the pair use him to glide out of the window to freedom.

Although it looks like Jarnathan was a CGI creation, a behind-the-scenes video shared by Honor Among Thieves co-director John Francis Daley confirms that the character was an impressive mix of prosthetics and practical effects.

We're loving the idea that Jarnathan truly was walking around and being awesome on the set of Honor Among Thieves. We just hope he doesn't have to go through the same disasters he went through in the movie.

Jarnathan isn't the only character who stole scenes in the Dungeons & Dragons film. Fans have also been going nuts over the chonky dragon aka Themberchaud whose pudginess made the trip to the Underdark a fun yet dangerous rollercoaster.

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves starred Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Regé-Jean Page, Justice Smith, Sophia Lillis, Daisy Head, and Hugh Grant. The film has turned out to be a huge success, bringing in over $38.5 million at the domestic box office during its opening weekend and around $71.5 million across the globe. The movie is now screening in theaters worldwide.
