Dune: Stellan Skarsgard Hypes Up Denis Villeneuve Film, Says It Will Have Director's Personal Stamp

People already have high expectations when it comes to the upcoming Dune film. However, Stellan Skarsgard is confident that the new Denis Villeneuve movie will not disappoint fans. The Thor: The Dark World actor recently spoke about the sci-fi flick and he confirmed that it will have the look and feel of a classic Villeneuve film.

Skarsgard recently discussed his upcoming project with Collider where he admitted that he took on the movie because he had always wanted to work with the Blade Runner 2049 director. In addition to that, Skarsgard stated that Legendary and Warner Bros. are giving Villeneuve as much freedom with the film.

"I've always wanted to work with him partly because he's such a wonderful man, but also because he's a brilliant director. It's fun when you get one of those big sci-fi movies and you know it's going to be directed by a true filmmaker. It's not going to be directed by the studio. It seemed like they were giving him pretty free hands. And you have to because his personal stamp on the film is paramount for the success of it," Skarsgard said.

It's awesome to know that Villeneuve is being given as much freedom as possible with Dune. After the success of the Blade Runner sequel, there is little doubt that the new adaptation of Frank Herbert's beloved classic will blow everyone's mind next year.

Skarsgard has been cast as Baron Vladimir Harkonnen, the sworn enemy of Oscar Isaac's Leto Atreides. The Thor actor will be working alongside fellow Marvel Cinematic Universe star Dave Bautista, who will play Harkonnen's nephew Glossu Rabban.

Dune is scheduled for release on December 10, 2020.
