Dune: Part 2 Trailer Shares First Look at Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan

The first trailer for Dune: Part 2 has just been screened at CinemaCon and the footage pretty much confirms that the sequel will be even bigger than the first film. In addition to that, the teaser offered the first look at Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan.

The Dune: Part 2 trailer was screened behind closed doors at CinemaCon and although it hasn't been released online, the footage description is truly exciting (via Deadline). In the teaser, Paul Atreides ponders on his destiny with Chani out in the desert. Princess Irulan is also shown speaking about the secrets of Arrakis. The teaser ends with Paul finally corraling a sandworm before disappearing with Shai-Hulud into the sand.

Florence Pugh had previously expressed her excitement about being a part of Dune: Part 2. The Black Widow star pointed out that working with Timothee Chalamet, Zendaya, and Austin Butler was a major milestone.

“To do Dune with those specific actors at the front, like Timmy and Zendaya and Austin — they are remarkable people, number one, and unbelievable actors, number two.”

“They’re stars in their own ways, not in the cliché way of using the word.” Pugh added, “They’re just — they’re sparkly people. I’m now lucky enough to call them all my friends, which is super exciting.”

The second Dune film will adapt the latter part of Frank Herbert's 1965 novel. This confirms the introduction of new characters who are also based in Arrakis.

Dune: Part 2 is directed by Denis Villeneuve and will bring back Timothee Chalamet as Paul Atreides, Zendaya as Chani, Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica, and Stellan Skarsgaard as Baron Harkonnen. The sequel will introduce Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan, Austin Butler as Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen, Christopher Walken as the Emperor, and Léa Seydoux as Lady Margot.

Dune: Part 2 is currently scheduled for theatrical release on November 3, 2023.
