Dune Deleted Scene Reveals Paul's Bene Gesserit Training Under Jessica

We already know that Paul Atreides had the best teachers in combat training in Dune. After all, the boy was trained by the likes of weapons master Gurney Halleck and swordmaster Duncan Idaho. However, it looks like there was another important mentor who taught Paul how to fight. Rebecca Ferguson has shared a still from a deleted scene where Lady Jessica is training her son to fight like the Bene Gesserit.

Rebecca Ferguson shared the image on her official Instagram account to celebrate Dune co-star Timothee Chalamet's birthday. The Doctor Sleep actress confirmed that the photo is from a deleted scene where her character is helping train her son in using a knife. Check it out below.

"Always an odd feeling when a scene you love doesn’t make the cut. Hope one day this one makes it out to you guys. Training my son/birthday boy in the arts of the Bene Gesserit’s knife work. Happy birthday @tchalamet! #DuneMovie," Ferguson wrote.

It's great to see that Jessica was involved in teaching Paul the ways of the Bene Gesserit. In the Denis Villeneuve film, she was only shown training him to use The Voice which he was able to successfully use at a crucial moment. The additional combat training only confirms that Jessica strongly believes that her son is destined to be The One.

But will we ever get to see the deleted scene in its full glory? There's a possibility that it will be included as a special feature in the Dune DVD and Blu-ray along with other important deleted scenes. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.

Dune follows Paul Atreides as he joins his family in taking control of Arrakis. However, House Atreides is threatened by the Harkonnens who are determined to continue ruling the planet and its supply of the Spice. A sequel is expected to begin production early next year.
