Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot Has Akira Toriyama's Seal of Approval, Teases Backstories Not in the Manga

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is going to be an interesting game for the franchise, one that seems to be solely focused on Son Goku. Fans are a bit worried since Goku is actually inactive during a large part of Z but the developers are promising a lot of stories some might not remember, along with some new ones. Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama decided to give his seal of approval for the game and told fans a couple of interesting tidbits.

On Twitter, Toriyama revealed that the game would have backstories for characters that weren't done in the manga. While most fans will see this as a cheap way to make filler seem exciting, the fact that fan-favorites like Launch and Android 8 aka Eighter are in the game shows that filler can still be entertaining.

Many of us are still hoping that we get more story details, specifically, what arc the game will end with. The trailers have made fans think that it will conclude with the Frieza Saga, which is baffling since those videos basically spoiled how that battle will go. They even showed Goku blasting Frieza with to smithereens while shouting the now iconic "YOU FOOL!"

Since previous interviews claimed that it would be Goku's story through all of Z, the game could end in the Buu Saga. After all, Goku has a lot of important battles there, from his long-awaited rematch with Vegeta to his epic fight with Kid Buu, there's just so much for the Saiyan to do. Please end with Buu.

Hell, end with Beerus. It's called Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods after all.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is coming to PS4 and Xbox One in early 2020.
