Originally slated to release in Japanese theaters this month, Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero features Gohan, Piccolo, and other Z-Fighters trying to stop the evil machinations of the new Red Ribbon Army and Dr. Hedo's androids, Gamma 1 and Gamma 2.
Goten and Trunks are expected to return as well, and fans are already expecting them to perform the fusion dance to transform into Gotenks. However, they weren't always successful when trying to fuse, and now we have a new look at one of the duo's failed forms.
Over on Twitter, user Renaldo_Saiyan shared a new promo for Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero movie, giving us a silly version of Gotenks. As fans of Akira Toriyama's shonen series know, this is a result of a failed fusion dance, and as first evealed back in the Majin Buu Saga of Dragon Ball Z, an unsuccessful fusion dance will create a skinny or overweight version of the desired character.
As you can see above, this is a teenaged version of the character. It's been a while since we've last seen Gotenks in action, so it's no surprise that Goten and Trunks will eventually fail to perform the fusion dance. However, we might see the desired form of Gotenks after the two successfully perform another fusion dance.
It's still unclear who they will fight in the movie, but it will likely be Gamma 1 and Gamma 2. However, there's also a mysterious villain being housed in a chamber inside the Red Ribbon headquarters. Could it be Cell or another villain?
Toei Animation already announced a new Japanese theatrical release date for Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero: June 11, 2022. There's still no updates on whether or not the release dates in North America and other regions are affected by this delay.
