Following its release just a bit over a week ago, it’s now confirmed that Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero is the fifth highest-earning anime film of all time in the US.

Crunchyroll, who distributes the film along with Sony Pictures Entertainment, recently confirmed that the new Dragon Ball Super movie has earned USD 30.85 million in the US as of today, August 30, 2022.

With this box office haul, the film is now the fifth top-earning anime film in the US – an impressive feat given the short amount of time that it has been screening in theaters.

For comparison, here are the top five anime movies at the domestic box office along with their lifetime earnings (via Box Office Mojo):

  1. Pokémon: The First Movie - Mewtwo Strikes Back – USD 85.74 million
  2. Demon Slayer - Kimetsu no Yaiba - the Movie: Mugen Train – USD 49.51 million
  3. Pokémon the Movie 2000 – USD 43.75 million
  4. Jujutsu Kaisen 0 – USD 34.54 million
  5. Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero – USD 30.85 million

At its pace, Super Hero might beat the lifetime box office total of Jujutsu Kaisen 0. It might even have a chance to beat Pokemon the Movie 2000 to grab the third spot on the list.

When compared with other movies in the franchise, Super Hero is far and away the best performing as it is now the highest-earning Dragon Ball movie ever at the US box office.

At its current gross, the film has beaten Dragon Ball Super: Broly which previously had the fifth spot in the all-time anime film box office in the US.
