Dragon Ball Super is set to continue the Granolah the Survivor Arc this month with the release of Chapter 79, but fans are wondering when Vegeta's latest power-up will return. Vegeta's Ultra Ego transformation debuted during his fight against Granolah, and it was the result of his hard training with Universe 7's God of Destruction, Beerus.
Now, Dragon Ball Super manga artist Toyotarou has shared our first official look of Vegeta's Ultra Ego in colored form, and it looks pretty cool. The new illustration was shared by Twitter user @DBSChronicles, and it features Vegeta in his Ultra Ego form: with purple hair and pronounced eyebrows. The image shows Vegeta fighting Granolah while Ultra Intinct Goku is in the back.
Toyotarou recently revealed the origins of Vegeta's Ultra Ego form. It turns out that it was him, not series creator Akira Toriyama, who created the form's appearance and name, and that it's intended to be the mirror of Goku's Ultra Instinct form. While the design of Goku's Ultra Instinct form is based on the Guide Angel of Universe 7, Whis, Vegeta's Ultra Ego form takes design cues from Beerus. Toyotarou explains that the purple color scheme for Ultra Ego was meant to match Beerus' cat-like look, and why Goku's Perfect Ultra Instinct Form takes on Whis' silver hair.
The new image is just one of the several pieces of art manga publisher Shueisha has released to hype up the upcoming Jump Festa event, which will feature panel for Dragon Ball Super. Jump Festa 2021, which is one of the biggest anime events of the year, will take place in Japan on December 19-20, and the yearly celebration is held for the Shonen Jump manga magazine, where Dragon Ball was originally published.
In addition to the new Ultra Ego art, Shueisha also released new art from other popular series from its magazine, including My Hero Academia, Jujutsu Kaisen, and One Piece.
The English version of Dragon Ball Super Chapter 79 is set to release on Monday, December 20. You can check out more details about this month's chapter here.
