How Did Aoi Todo Sever His Hand in Jujutsu Kaisen?
In the ongoing Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2’s Shibuya Incident arc, Todo jumps into the battle between Itadori and Mahito.
Living up to the title of "best friend," Todo is ready to do anything for his comrade, Itadori.
However, Todo is up against a nasty special-grade cursed spirit and his brutal Idle Transfiguration technique.
During this high-tension battle, Mahito uses his Idle Transfiguration technique at Todo, and the latter has to cut off his transfigured hand to avoid getting killed.
After losing his hand, Todo is unable to use his signature Boogie Woogie innate technique.
Without his hand, he lost the ability to use his cursed technique because it required clapping his hands to switch places with anyone.
Does Todo Get His Hand Back After the Shibuya Incident?
In Jujutsu Kaisen, sorcerers lose their arms and legs, and they can heal and even grow their limbs back through the Reversed Cursed Technique.
The Reversed Cursed Technique is a capable technique that allows users to transform negative cursed energy into positive cursed energy to heal others and themselves.
On paper, a Reversed Cursed technique user can heal Todo and save his hand. Unfortunately, things are quite complicated in Todo’s case.
The Idle Transfiguration used by Mahito changes the fabric of an individual’s soul.
As such, Todo will never be able to get his hand back after the Shibuya Incident and his fight against Mahito.
Mahito likely planned to turn Todo into a transfigured human, but Todo saved himself in the nick of time.
However, this decision came at a major cost. After losing his hand, Todo won’t be able to use his highly effective and powerful Boogie Woogie technique, which is a shame.
Fans are still hoping that, in the future, Todo might figure out a way to get his hand back. But until then, there is no Boogie Woogie.
