For many, Black Clover is one of the best shonen anime out there. While the show is done for now, the manga continues to have a strong fanbase with many enthusiasts eager to find out if Asta ever gets magic and how his story will conclude. But what about more personal stakes? So far, the main character hasn't had a romantic relationship as such, though his proposals to Sister Lily constitute a running gag throughout the show. So, does Asta ever marry Sister Lily in Black Clover?

Black Clover follows Asta and Yuno, who were raised together after being abandoned at a church as babies. Growing up, both dreamed of becoming Wizard King, a coveted title bestowed only upon the strongest mage in the kingdom.
But there's one major complication, as Yuno grows into a strong adolescent mage, but Asta lacks magic. A twist of fate, however, gives him another strength; anti-magic, or the ability to nullify anyone's magic. To this day, it's not clear whether Asta or Yuno will become Wizard King but hopefully, we'll get an answer soon enough.
Meanwhile, the medievalist atmosphere, well-worn but always successful shonen tropes, and the subversive power of the main character make Black Clover worth watching.
Does Asta Marry Sister Lily in Black Clover?
Asta very much does not marry Sister Lily, although he wishes he would. He developed a crush on her from the first moment she started working at the church where he was abandoned, to the point that, in his first interaction with her, he asked her to marry him. This was naturally played for laughs, as he was only a young child at that point. But as Asta grew, he continued taking this childhood crush a bit too seriously.
Growing up, Asta he kept proposing to Sister Lily, despite their age gap, her status as his caretaker and the fact that she is a nun. Of course, his antics are still impossible to take seriously, all the more so as Lily often “accidentally” uses physical force in the form of magic to reject him.

In no way does any of this suggest that Asta’s infatuation could ever grow into a healthy relationship, let alone marriage, even if Sister Lily cares about him. Fans have theorized that his obsession with the Sister is a misplaced copying mechanism. Since he was abandoned while young, Asta grew to think of Sister Lily as a constant in his life, and mistakenly believes that marriage – which he likely doesn’t fully understand – would make the bond they share eternal. Moreover, his childish insistence on this childhood crush might be a misplaced way for him to stay focused on the goal ahead; the title of Wizard King.
If this is the case, it would be interesting if, at some point, we saw him returning where it all started, and realizing he no longer has these feelings, finally achieving some sort of emotional maturity and character development.
