Fans may see a major character returns to Doctor Who 60th Anniversary Special if Russell T. Davies’ Instagram comment has anything to go by.

David Tennant makes a surprising comeback as the 14th Doctor after playing the role of the 10th Doctor from 2005 to 2010. And if Davies’ comment means anything, fans may also see the return of Susan (Carol Anne Ford).

The Tease of Susan’s Return

The official Doctor Who Instagram account featured a video of the first farewell between the Doctor and one of his companions, Susan.

"Whatever happened to her?" Davies asked in the comment box. Though it might mean nothing, just asking about the character’s whereabouts or fate, it could mean a thing given the fact that he’s returning as the series’ showrunner.

"I think you might be in the best position to give us that answer…," one fan responded.

"Oh gosh I am begging you, please bring back Carol Anne Ford as Susan if she's willing! It would such a beautiful, amazing story,” another chimed in.

Who is Susan?

Susan is the Doctor’s first companion in the first Doctor Who episodes. She was first seen in the first serial, An Unearthly Child, and remained until the second series serial, The Dalek Invasion of Earth.

She, too, is the Doctor’s granddaughter, who went with him in the TARDIS when he left Gallifrey.

She went to Coal Academy as a student, but her teachers later discovered that she and her grandfather were aliens. This forced the Doctor to take them away in the TARDIS.

However, her stint on the show ended when she met Billy Campbell. The two fell in love, and though she still wanted to be with the Doctor, her grandfather knew she was old enough to have her own life.

He locked her out of the TARDIS and made his first tearful farewell with a companion.

Ford later reprised her role in Doctor Who 20th-anniversary special, The Five Doctors, and the 30th-anniversary charity short, Dimensions in Time.
