Alice in Borderland Season 2: Here’s What’s Next for Arisu, Usagi

Alice in Borderland Season 2 has officially ended, completing the adaptation of its source material, the Japanese manga with the same title by Haro Aso. However, the finale seems to hint at the story’s continuation in Alice in Borderland Season 3, but more than that, fans want to know more about Arisu (Kento Yamazaki) and Usagi (Tao Tsuchiya).

Arisu and Usagi have completed all the games in the Borderland, resulting in their return to the real world. However, it looks like there’s more to their story besides just meeting at the hospital in Borderland Season 2 finale. So, what happens to these two?

The Future of Arisu and Usagi

According to ScreenRant, Arisu and Usagi’s story continues in the manga’s sequel, Alice in Borderland Retry. Its premise takes place a few years after Usagi wakes up from the hospital bed in the real world after winning against the Queen of Hearts.

There, the two get married, and Arisu becomes a psychologist. Alternatively, Usagi has become a mountaineer, following in her father's footsteps.

Just like what Usagi promised to Arisu in Borderland, though they have no recollection of what happened there or those promises, they go on mountaineering a few times.

They then become parents, and the sequel sees Arisu rushing home as his wife is about to give birth. However, not everything will be fun and games here.

While rushing to be on Arisu’s side, Arisu meets an accident that will send him back to Borderland. From there, he will remember everything that has happened during the original Borderland battle royale games.

After successfully clearing the Nine of Hearts game, he will again be sent to the real world with no memory of Borderland.

Will There Be Alice in Borderland Season 3?

It remains to be seen if there will be Alice in Borderland Season 3 after Netflix completed adapted the entirety of its source material. The second season’s finale closely followed the manga’s conclusion, not leaving room for a third iteration to come.

So, what does the Joker mean in the final scene? There are theories that the streaming giant may take a Game of Thrones approach and will create its own story to continue the show with a third installment.
