Disney Spending Generous Amounts To Produce Marvel and Star Wars TV Shows For Streaming Service

Disney is launching its streaming service later this year and according to a new report, the Mickey Mouse House is actually spending a whole lot of money to get Disney+ off the ground with major original projects from Marvel and from Disney.

Variety just recently posted a new report about the studio's Disney+ streaming platform, and according to the entertainment news outlet, Disney is dishing out some serious money for its upcoming Marvel and Star Wars TV series. This includes Jon Favreau's upcoming Star Wars spinoff The Mandalorian and the Marvel Cinematic Universe's limited series putting the spotlight on Tm Hiddleston's Loki and on Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch. Not only that, but Disney is also working on a Rogue One prequel spinoff series starring Diego Luna's Cassian Andor.

Though these projects might seem a bit expensive for Disney+'s launch, the Mickey Mouse House doesn't seem to mind with the report suggesting that the studio's been willing to spend "generous" amounts of finances to get these projects in development.

Everyone knows that you have to spend money to earn money. Knowing how Disney+ has to compete with major streaming players like Netflix and Hulu, Disney understands that it has to create its own competitive edge so that it can attract subscribers who're already iffy about owning multiple accounts to multiple sites.

With its own original content starring major Marvel and Star Wars characters, Disney will be able to bring in subscribers to Disney+, helping the streaming site get on its feet.
