Did Tyler Really Have Feelings For Wednesday? Wednesday Star Explains

WARNING: If you haven’t seen Wednesday on Netflix, this article contains MAJOR SPOILERS. Read at your own risk!

Tyler has always been one of the suspicious characters to appear on Netflix’s Wednesday, especially when he was portrayed to be a 'normie' as compared to the titular character staying in Nevermore Academy. Episode 7 has finally unveiled the truth: Tyler was revealed to be the Hyde, as he eventually confessed to. Hunter Doohan (Tyler) explains if his character really did have feelings for Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday.

Recently speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Doohan bluntly states that Tyler’s feelings were more on the superficial side, while also revealing the many 'conflicting sides' to his character.

“He was always playing her. Maybe there’s an attraction there and he probably wouldn’t admit it, but a respect for her, but he’s filled with so much anger and hatred towards her and her family and all of Nevermore because of what happened to his mom.”

Seeing as Tyler’s ‘dark secret’ had been finally revealed in the series, the actor also reveals he had long known the biggest twist of the show Wednesday during auditions and was only able to confirm his speculation upon getting casted as Tyler. Doohan reiterates, “Tyler was fun to play because I feel like, even without the monster, there’s a lot of conflicting sides to him.”

Doohan adds that he also had a chemistry read with Jenna Ortega and Percy Hynes White (Xavier Thorpe), in which the scene they did could not be used in the series at all because of its potential giveaway about Tyler’s dark secret.

“[In] my final chemistry read, I read with Jenna [Ortega] and Percy [Thorpe]. We never ended up shooting those scenes though, because I think, on the page even, they made Tyler look a little too suspicious.”

What do you think about Tyler’s big dark secret as the plot twist in the show? Wednesday is currently streaming on Netflix.
