Demon Slayer Season 2 Reveals Surprising Tengen Uzui Backstory


There is little doubt that Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Season 2 continues continues to to outdo itself with every new episode. This was once again proven by Episode 15 as Tengen Uzui and his young companions finally took on Daki and Gyutaro. However, Yukaku-hen Episode 8 also had something unexpected to offer. We just learned something new about the Sound Hashira as his surprising backstory was revealed!

In Demon Slayer Season 2 Episode 15, Gyutaro continued to taunt Tengen Uzui, claiming that the Sound Hashira is the chosen one because of his good looks, three wives, and fighting skills. However, Uzui says there are other better fighters in the country, noting that there are several people he wasn't able to save and that he will never be like Kyojuro Rengoku.

Gyutaro then points out that he is referring to Uzui's resistance to the poison from his blood sickles. That's when the Sound Hashira confirms he was a ninja and slowly shares what happened to his own family.

It is revealed that Uzui came from a large family but seven of his nine siblings were killed at a young age. This led to their father giving him and a younger brother a truly difficult training and a huge conflict between the siblings.

The episode also shared Uzui's first meeting with Kagaya Ubuyashiki when he and his wives decided to join the Demon Slayer Corps. Ubuyashiki's words encouraged Uzui to fight the demons despite being weakened by the poison.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Season 2 Episode 16 is titled Defeating an Upper Rank Demon ("Jogen no Oni o Taoshitara") and takes inspiration from the manga's 88th chapter How to Defeat Them ("Taoshikata"). Yukaku-hen Episode 9 will air on Sunday, January 30, 2022, at 11:15 PM JST.
