Demon Slayer Season 2 Just Teased Tanjiro's Shocking Fate

It has been agreed that the latest episode of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Season 2 is the best one in the anime so far (hands down, we all agree). After all, the action-packed episode revealed how the swordsmen finally succeeded in beheading both Daki and Gyutaro. However, it looks like the tenth episode of the Entertainment District arc also teased what the future holds for Tanjiro Kamado and his fate is truly shocking!

In Demon Slayer Season 2 Episode 17, Tanjiro is the first one to regain consciousness after the massive explosion in the previous episode. He is immediately faced by Gyutaro who taunts him for being pathetic and weak and Tanjiro reacts by running away.

When Gyutaro catches up with him, the demon continues tormenting Tanjiro then drops an unexpected offer: he wants to turn the boy into a demon so he can be strong and defend Nezuko. However, Tanjiro retaliates by stabbing Gyutaro with a kunai to paralyze him and attempts to decapitate the demon.

As he struggles to sever Gyutaro's neck, Tanjiro imagines the demon as himself then ponders the idea of becoming a demon. However, he remains hopeful, believing that the members of the Demon Slayers Corps will kill him if it happens.

It's a depressing thought but one that doesn't stray far from the truth, at least not in the manga. But will the anime actually show Tanjiro being turned into a demon in the future? For now, it is unclear but it is something to be wary about in the future.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Season 2 Episode 18 is titled No Matter How Many Lives ("Nando Umarekawatte mo"), a reference to Chapter 96 and 97 in the manga. The final episode of Yukaku-hen will air on Sunday, February 13, 2022, at 11:15 PM JST.
