Fans were understandably worried about Inosuke Hashibira after what happened in last week's episode of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Season 2. However, Episode 17 has confirmed that the young warrior managed to escape certain death simply by using an old trick that we have already learned about when we first met him!
In Demon Slayer Season 2 Episode 17, Gyutaro confirmed to Tanjiro Kamado that he has successfully eliminated the boy's companions. The demon pointed out that Inosuke was stabbed in the heart and if that didn't do him in, there's the poison from the blood sickle that should spread through his body.
With everyone presumed dead, Gyutaro proceeded to torment Tanjiro who still hasn't given up the fight. After seemingly running away from the demon, it is revealed that Tanjiro was buying time to regain his strength and stab Gyutaro with a kunai that paralyzes the demon temporarily.
This leads to Daki launching an attack but she is deflected by Zenitsu Agatsuma who managed to escape a building's rubble and immediately attempts to decapitate her. However, Zenitsu begins to lose his strength since Daki's neck is too difficult to cut. That's when Inosuke reemerges to help him with the decapitation.
But how did Inosuke survive that fatal blow? Boar Head reveals he had rearranged his organs in his body so the sickle actually missed his heart. It's an ability that Inosuke had confirmed in Season 1 and although his companions were initially shocked by the information, it turned out to be quite handy in the fight against Daki and Gyutaro.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Season 2 Episode 18 is titled No Matter How Many Lives ("Nando Umarekawatte mo"), a reference to Chapter 96 and 97 in the manga. The final episode of Yukaku-hen will air on Sunday, February 13, 2022, at 11:15 PM JST.
