The penultimate episode of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Season 2 is finally here and although fans were hoping it would neatly end on a hopeful note, we ended up with a major cliffhanger. Still, Episode 17 turned out to be the most exciting one in the Entertainment District arc as we finally saw how the heroes will complete their mission. In addition to that, viewers got to see Tengen Uzui's ultimate fighting technique in action!
In Demon Slayer Season 2 Episode 17, Gyutaro confirmed to Tanjiro Kamado that Tengen Uzui lost consciousness when the poison in his body made his heart stop. The demon then proceeded to torment the boy, breaking his fingers and taunting him to fight.
However, Tanjiro flees with Nezuko's box and Gyutaro gives chase. Interestingly, it turned out to be a distraction to get him away from Daki and to stab him with a kunai laced with Wisteria extract. With Gyutaro paralyzed, Tanjiro tries to behead the demon but isn't strong enough to do so. By then, Gyutaro has already removed the kunai, regaining his strength and preparing to kill the boy.
Amazingly, that's when Tengen Uzui reappears to deflect Gyutaro's sickles. The Sound Hashira then declares that his Musical Score technique is finally complete and they will certainly win since he can now read the demon's moves like a piece of music.
If it sounds impressive, it's even more spectacular to watch as Tengen once again faces off against Gyutaro. It's certainly an explosive and flamboyant fight worthy of all the hype.
Of course, perfecting the technique also cost Tengen an arm hand and an leg eye. Nevertheless, it meant the defeat of the Upper Rank Six demons.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Season 2 Episode 18 is titled No Matter How Many Lives ("Nando Umarekawatte mo"), a reference to Chapter 96 and 97 in the manga. The final episode of Yukaku-hen will air on Sunday, February 13, 2022, at 11:15 PM JST.
