Deadpool 3 is one of the many Hollywood productions that are currently on pause due to the ongoing actors' strike, which still has no end in sight since the negotiations between the guild and the studios were recently suspended.
We also learned recently that Disney is planning to keep its early summer release date next year even though filming was only halfway by the time it was shut down last July when the strike commenced.
Given that the filming is not resuming anytime soon and we're only just a few months away before the year ends, some fans are starting to wonder whether they can actually make it on its current release date.
Now, the director of the film has chimed in and it looks like a delay might be imminent again soon.

Deadpool 3 Director Shawn Levy Addresses the Release Date Amidst the Strike
In an interview with TheWrap, Deadpool 3 director Shawn Levy expressed his doubt about the planned early summer release next year as only half of the film was shot and edited at this point.
"I wish I knew. I don’t even know if we officially have [a release date]. I know we were gonna be May 3," he said.
"Certainly, the actors’ strike and the long pause in production have put that release date in true risk. We’ve shot half the movie. I’ve edited half the movie. We’re dying to get back to work and get this movie out next year."
It looks like they are still planning to hopefully release the film by next year if production is able to resume soon, but the May release might be impossible at this point since the window is getting shorter and they might want to avoid having a shortened post-production period.
Disney is definitely relying on Deadpool 3 to become a big money maker next summer given the film's multiverse storyline surrounding the Fox X-Men characters and it has the potential to become the next MCU billion-dollar hit.
Obviously, before they will be able to achieve that goal, the film needs to be finished and the cast and crew also need enough time to accomplish everything that they need in order to deliver a quality film that critics and the audience will love.
At this point, a fall 2024 release might be more probable, but the situation is still changing and we might be able to get a definitive update in the coming weeks.
Deadpool 3 is currently slated for release in theaters on May 3, 2024.
