Hugh Jackman is set to make his return as Wolverine in the upcoming MCU film Deadpool 3. His comeback comes just a couple of years after he presumably ended his tenure in the role in 2017's Logan.

The actor's return in the role was an interesting turn considering that it happened in the midst of several rumors that surfaced around the web regarding Marvel Studios' alleged search on finding a new actor to play the MCU version of Wolverine.

One of the actors that were rumored or fan-cast to potentially play the MCU version of Wolverine was Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe although that doesn't seem to be true at all since there was no confirmation although fans are still clamoring for it.

Now, it looks like we won't be seeing the MCU version of the X-Men anytime soon as they are more focused on exploring the multiverse and bringing back the past actors to give them a swan song in the rest of the Multiverse Saga.

However, Radcliffe's casting as Wolverine might still happen as a new entry in the rumor mill has suggested that he might be part of Deadpool 3 after all.

Insider Daniel Richtman claimed in one of his recent scoops (via Comic Book Movie) that Radcliffe has been cast for a "secret role" in Deadpool 3. No details were provided on the character that he'll play in the film.

So far, neither Marvel Studios nor Radcliffe's representative have confirmed the rumor. The insider also clarified that the casting happened prior to the current actors' strike.

Assuming that the Harry Potter vet's appearance is true, it is an interesting piece of casting news since the actor has been rumored and fan-cast to potentially become the next Wolverine when he gets introduced in the MCU.

If Radcliffe does end up showing us a variant of Wolverine, this could be their way to acknowledge the fan cast by giving them a glimpse of what his take on the character looks like similar to what was done with John Krasinski as Reed Richards in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

It is likely that his appearance will just be a cameo and, knowing the Deadpool films' penchant for lampooning the current trends in the comic book movie genre, they'll probably poke fun at the rumor and potentially even appear together with Jackman.

We will never know until after the strike or closer to the release or even when we see the entire film if this rumor is true, but nevertheless, it is a great treat for fans who have been clamoring for it for years.

Deadpool 3 is currently slated for release in theaters on May 3, 2024.
