Daredevil Showrunner Calls Born Again the ‘Missing’ Season 4

Who could forget Daredevil’s original Netflix series? It may have stopped at Season 3, but Daredevil Season 3 showrunner Erik Oleson finds himself calling Disney’s Daredevil: Born Again reboot as Netflix’s missing Season 4.

“I’m rooting for them,” Oleson said in a recent Screen Rant interview, “I don’t have any inside information for you. I knew it was going to happen just from rumblings through friends in the grapevine of the Marvel family. But I really don’t know what they’re planning yet.”

Oleson continued on to explain why he views the Disney+ reboot Netflix’s missing Season 4 of the original series: “We used pieces of Born Again in our season. I still call [Daredevil: Born Again] Season 4, but they’re trying to insist it isn’t, so I go along with whatever they want to call it.”

It is worth mentioning though that Daredevil: Born Again is a completely clean slate from its Netflix counterpart. It is set to focus more on Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock in his life as a lawyer than his alter-ego as the Man Without Fear. However, a previous report analyzed that there is a possibility for the original series to still be connected to the Disney+ reboot.

Previously, Vincent D’Onofrio, who will reprise his role as Kingpin in Daredevil: Born Again, said ahead of the reboot’s release that Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is already in the works.

While they haven’t confirmed what Season 2 will be about, D’Onofrio did say: “We’ve only just started shooting. I think we’re a couple weeks in, and the show is going to be very, very different than the Netflix show, and it’s so exciting because what we’re doing is quite something.”

Marvel Studios’ Daredevil: Born Again is currently slated to be released sometime in 2024 on Disney+. You can check out more details about the reboot here.
