MCU Fans Slam Daredevil: Born Again’s Promise of ‘Extreme Violence’

Daredevil was originally a Netflix series, which managed to work out on a TV-MA rating without retaliation. However, now that the show is getting a reboot under Disney, MCU fans are quick to believe that Daredevil: Born Again is likely getting the R-13 treatment, instead of its previous rating.

Recently, Vincent D’Onofrio, who portrays Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, recently promised MCU fans that Daredevil: Born Again’s level of violence would remain the same as what Netflix had showcased. Little is known on how much violence we’ll actually get to see from the reboot, but it is worth mentioning that it was previously reported that the reboot will be the first R-Rated test for the MCU.

However, in spite of this, MCU fans remember one other MCU series that made a similar promise but failed to keep: Moon Knight. While the 2022 series had more on-screen depiction of violence as compared to WandaVision and Loki, fans were not at all impressed at how tame it was as compared to its comics series.

“It was a concern of mine, too, because the Netflix show [Daredevil] was so raw and brutal, you know?” D’Onofrio recently admitted on Newsweek, “But then I started to look at what Marvel’s been doing lately with their series, and the direction that they want to go in. All I can say is that if you look at the most brutal stuff that Marvel is doing, which is few and far between but it’s there, it will be there for us, too.”

The 18-episode Daredevil reboot began filming in February 2023 in New York City, and as on-set photos continue to unravel little hints and details of when the timeline Daredevil: Born Again stands, there has been a lack of teasing on whether or not Disney+ will indeed include the same amount of violence as its Netflix counterpart.

Marvel Studios’ Daredevil: Born Again is currently slated to be released sometime in 2024 on Disney+. You can check out more details about the reboot here.
