Daisy Ridley is set to make her return to the Star Wars franchise in the upcoming New Jedi Order movie that will be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. She will be reprising the role of Rey Skywalker in a story that will be set years after the events of the sequel trilogy.

It is one of the many theatrical Star Wars projects that are currently in active development as Lucasfilm is eager to bring back the franchise to the big screen that will begin with The Mandalorian & Grogu.

So far, most of the details are being kept under wraps, but the people involved in the project have expressed their excitement about their plans for the movie.

Now, the actress has weighed in again on her upcoming return and teased the story that they have in store for her comeback movie.

In an interview with Variety, Daisy Ridley was asked to open up about her upcoming Star Wars return and the involvement of Obaid-Chinoy as the first female director of a Star Wars movie.

She expressed her excitement about the story that Obaid-Chinoy is planning for the movie and claimed that it will be "worthwhile" for the fans.

"I’m excited to do the job, but not because Sharmeen is a woman. Her documentaries are amazing. Her idea for the story is cool as sh*t," Ridley said.

"No spoilers, but she gave me a rundown of the entire story. If it weren’t amazing, I would have been like, 'OK, call me in five years.' But it’s worthwhile."

When asked about the potential involvement of her co-stars in the sequel trilogy, Ridley responded by saying that she is unaware of the other casting in the movie yet but she is looking forward to returning to the role now that she is in a different stage of her career.

"No, because I don’t know what is what or who is who [in the new movie]. So much has happened for me [since the Skywalker saga]. I feel like a grown-up now. When I first started, I was, like, 20. I was the youngest on set. It took me the first two Star Wars films to feel worthy of being there," she said.

"Now I’m in my 30s. The whole thing feels quite different. I’ve been able to work with other filmmakers, and hopefully, I’ve got better as a performer."

There is no doubt that Ridley is really looking forward to playing the role again as evidenced by her comments and there is an assurance that there is a true purpose behind the decision to revisit Rey Skywalker again.

The project is still in development at the moment so it might take a while before we'll hear more official news on its progress, but one thing's for sure is that the film is still happening with the same creatives involved no matter what some rumors have suggested.
