It's no secret that Daemon Targaryen has been capturing the hearts of House of the Dragon fans for the past two weeks. However, Episode 3 may have cemented the Rogue Prince's standing as everyone's favorite character. The third episode of the Game of Thrones prequel has revealed just how far Daemon would go just to win the War of the Stepstones.
In House of the Dragon Episode 3, it was confirmed that Daemon and Corlys Velaryon have been at war with the Triarchy for three years. However, King Viserys I Targaryen has not offered any form of help as he insists that the two acted without his approval.
Although the king hasn't acted, many of his subjects believe he needs to do something to put an end to the war. Viserys eventually sends aid after realizing that Daemon and Corlys are losing and that it would be better to defeat Craghas Drahar in his name.
When Daemon Targaryen learns that help is coming, he becomes enraged and attacks the messenger. The prince then sets off to surrender to the Crabfeeder but it's all just an act as he launches an attack aided by his men and the dragonrider Laenor Velaryon.
The episode concludes with Daemon Targaryen killing Craghas Drahar in a truly bloody and gruesome (albeit offscreen) way. Still, the last few minutes of House of the Dragon Episode 3 had fans cheering on the rogue prince's successful takedown of the Crabfeeder and his men.
It's important to note that Daemon effectively goes through the entire scene without uttering a single word. This proves that Matt Smith is perfect for playing the character that George R.R. Martin claims is his favorite Targaryen.
So what can we expect in House of the Dragon Episode 4? It looks like Daemon Targaryen has finally found a new title. With that in mind, the prince possibly believes he is still the best candidate to take over the Iron Throne.
House of the Dragon Episode 3 is now on HBO. House of the Dragon Episode 4 is titled King of the Narrow Sea. The new episode will premiere on HBO on Sunday, September 11, 2022, at 9:00 PM EST.
