House of the Dragon: Daemon Targaryen Becomes Everyone's Favorite Character Despite All the Red Flags

We're only two episodes into House of the Dragon but it looks like one character has already won fans over with his peculiar ways. In Episode 2, Daemon Targaryen found a unique and chaotic way to get his brother Viserys I Targaryen's attention and people are declaring the Rogue Prince as their favorite character in the Game of Thrones spin-off series.

House of the Dragon Episode 2 takes us six months after Rhaenyra Targaryen was announced as King Viserys' heir and all this time, Daemon had taken control of Dragonstone. However, the king has chosen to ignore Daemon taking over House Targaryen's homestead and focused his attention on more pressing matters in the Red Keep.

Naturally, Daemon Targaryen, as extra as he is, didn't like being ignored and decided to instigate a possible battle. The prince steals the dragon egg that Rhaenyra had chosen for her baby brother before the infant died. Daemon also left a message to the king announcing his marriage to the lowborn Mysaria who is reportedly pregnant.

These toxic attention-grabbing moves should be enough but when Otto Hightower heads for Dragonstone to take back the egg, Daemon pretty much declares war on the King's Hand. Luckily, Rhaenyra arrives to peacefully reclaim the dragon egg and prevent unnecessary bloodshed.

At this point, it's clear that Daemon Targaryen isn't the guy we should be rooting for in House of the Dragon. Still, that hasn't stopped fans from declaring the chaotic prince as their favorite character on the show.

Things are about to get crazier in House of the Dragon. The second episode concludes with the resentful Corlys Velaryon meeting with Daemon to form an alliance and take on the Triarchy that had taken over the Stepstones. Looks like Daemon will be able to quench his bloodlust after all.

House of the Dragon Episode 3 is titled Second of His Name and is scheduled to premiere on HBO on Sunday, September 4, 2022.
