To celebrate the series’ release on Netflix, a music video for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners was released on the official Cyberpunk 2077 YouTube channel.

While this music video uses the show’s ending theme, it is not animated by Trigger. Instead, this music video is animated by STUDIO MASSKET and is directed by artist Ilya Kuvshinov.

The music video features a similar look to the anime, but it stars a different character instead of the series’ main characters.

In case you’re unfamiliar with its director, Ilya Kuvshinov is an illustrator that’s based in Japan and known for his original illustration work.

He is also the character designer for Netflix’s Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045, as well as the anime film The Wonderland.

As for the song, the ending theme is entitled “Let You Down” by Dawid Podsiadło, a Polish singer-songwriter. Though this music video is different from the ending credits animation used in the anime.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is an anime series by studio Trigger and CD Projekt RED that’s based on CD Projekt RED’s Cyberpunk 2077 video game.

The game itself is based on Mike Pondsmith’s Cyberpunk tabletop role-playing game.

Anime fans are probably already familiar with Trigger, the studio behind popular shows such as Kill la Kill and SSSS.Gridman.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi, who is joined by Yoh Yoshinari handling character design and animation direction. Serving as the showrunner is Rafał Jaki from CD Projekt RED.

Meanwhile, the show’s Japanese cast includes:

  • Lucy – Yuuki Aoi
  • Rebecca – Tomoyo Kurosawa
  • David Martinez – KENN
  • Maine – Hiroki Touchi
  • Dorio – Michiko Kaiden
  • Kiwi – Takako Honda
  • Pilar – Wataru Takagi

Edgerunners follows David, a street kid trying to survive in Night City. In the series’ events, David becomes an edgerunner – a mercenary outlaw.

As an edgerunner, he comes across various characters from Night City, including netrunner Lucy.

The show’s events take place in the same universe as the game, and it is considered canon in the Cyberpunk 2077 universe. Though it is made as a standalone series, meaning viewers don’t need to have played the game to understand its story.

All 10 episodes of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners are now available to stream on Netflix.
