Cyberpunk: Edgerunners New Trailer Reveals Trigger's New Anime For Netflix

Netflix has released a new trailer for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, an anime spinoff of CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk 2077 from studio Trigger (the same team behind Promare, Little Witch Academia, and Kill la Kill).

The update comes as part of Netflix's Geeked Week 2022, a virtual event loaded with trailers, sneak peeks, cast panels, and more news about some of the streamer's highly-anticipated titles across various genres, including original fantasy and sci-fi movies, television shows, animation, and games.

As you can see, the trailer highlights the anime's futuristic world and fast-paced action sequences filled with guns, explosions, and motorcycles that we loved from the popular videogame.

Thankfully, you won't need to get updated with Cyberpunk 2077 lore to enjoy the story of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. The premise Netflix provided confirms that it will be a standalone story:

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners tells a standalone, 10-episode story about a street kid trying to survive in a technology- and body-modification-obsessed city of the future. Having everything to lose, he chooses to stay alive by becoming an edgerunner — a mercenary outlaw also known as a cyberpunk.

This will surely remind anime fans of the cyberpunk anime shows like Ghost in the Shell, Psycho Pass, and the genre-blending Cowboy Bebop.
