Cyberpunk Edgerunners Story, Release Date

In the opening credits’ description, Netflix revealed some information about the upcoming Cyberpunk anime. For starters, the show will be 10 episodes long. It will also follow the story of a street kid trying to survive Night City by becoming an edgerunner which is “a mercenary outlaw also known as a cyberpunk.”

The Edgerunners anime is based on the Cyberpunk 2077 open-world RPG video game. The game meanwhile is based on Mike Pondsmith’s Cyberpunk tabletop role-playing game.

While Edgerunners is set in the same universe as Cyberpunk 2077, the show will feature a standalone story so that viewers who have yet to play the game will be able to follow it.

Cyberpunk Edgerunners will premiere on Netflix in September 2022. The anime was announced back in 2020 during the lead-up to the release of CD Projekt RED’s Cyberpunk 2077.
