Crazy Fan Theory Suggests Rey is Leia and Luke’s Daughter

Another one of those crazy fan theories is circulating the internet. This new one seems to be the craziest yet, even more bizarre than the theory that posits Rey is the reincarnation of Anakin Skywalker, or the one that says she is a descendant of Emperor Palpatine. This new fan theory weighs heavily on the side of Game of Thrones, particularly incest.

As always, the new Star Wars theory was spotted on Reddit. According to Reddit user CaptainA1917, there’s a number of "clues" from the original trilogy that can attest to a more intimate relationship between Luke and Leia.

The post read:

Historically, there is on-screen precedent in Episodes 4, 5, and 6. The main scene (the kiss in E5) is typically seen as Leia trying to make Han jealous, but this is not the whole story.
Earlier versions of the screenplay gave much more importance to the love triangle, and it was even supposed to be a major motivation for Luke to be tempted to the dark side, by Vader playing upon Luke's jealousy of Han.
Moreover, the fact remains that the kiss has never been disavowed, altered, or deleted. So there is already a tacit acceptance (though with a healthy dose of embarrassment) of this plot point among both fans and creators.

To push his point further, CaptainA1917went on to explain how psychology plays into the picture:

...psychologically speaking, this would be a near textbook case of 'genetic sexual attraction,' where relatives separated for most or all of their lives meet as adults and fall intensely in love.

While genetic sexual attraction is indeed possible in real life, I think it’s just pushing it too far if the people behind The Force Awakens really did decide to explore this possibility of incest between Luke and Leia. Besides, Lucasfilm is owned by Disney now, I don’t think Disney would allow even the idea of incest in its films, right?

It seems that all logical explanations for Rey’s origins have been exhausted that fans are looking into more bizarre options.

Hopefully, at least the question of who Rey’s parents are will be answered in Star Wars: Episode VIII on December 15, 2017 so that the madness will finally stop.
