Even though the game has been out for over three years, Bandai Namco continues to support Pirate Warriors 4 with new content. Soon, fans can look forward to more roster members as One Piece Pirate Warriors 4 revealed that Coby and Shanks are coming to the game.
These two characters were showcased in the game’s next DLC trailer. There, the two are shown in action alongside Uta, who will be the centerpiece of the upcoming DLC.
One Piece Pirate Warriors 4 to Add Coby and Shanks to the Roster
One Piece Pirate Warriors is the bestselling video game series in the One Piece franchise with over seven million copies sold as of August last year.
Unlike most anime games which are arena fighters (such as the upcoming Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed Clash), the Pirate Warriors series features Musou-style gameplay, meaning it is similar to the iconic Dynasty Warriors titles.
Pirate Warriors 4 is the latest entry in the series, and it was released in March 2020. Since then, the game has received numerous DLCs which add popular characters. The latest of these is the One Piece Film: Red pack.

As previously revealed, Film: Red’s main character, Uta, is the star of this DLC as she will be added as a playable character.
The latest trailer reveals that she’ll be joined by Shanks, another huge addition. Aside from playing a key role in Film: Red, Shanks is one of the strongest characters in the series, not to mention one of the most popular.
Rounding out the lineup is Coby, the Marine Captain who is one of Luffy’s first friends. Coby may not have played a big role in the movie, but his inclusion in the DLC is a welcome one for fans.

One Piece Film: Red DLC to Be Released in January
Previously, the game added characters from the Wano Country Arc as DLC. Given this, it’s no surprise that Film: Red characters are the next ones to get added as downloadable content.
Fans will be able to play as Uta, Shanks, and Coby by purchasing the DLC, which will be released on January 11, 2024, on all platforms.
In the future, players will also be treated to the release of Gol D. Roger, who will join the game’s roster in Character Pack 6.
With the game continuing to get new content, fingers are crossed that characters from the anime’s upcoming Egghead Arc will also get added down the line.
