As the show continues to air, it was announced that the Classroom of the Elite Season 2 Blu-Ray and DVD releases will be delayed by two months.
The news of the delay was announced on the anime’s official website. There, the reason for the delay was detailed along with the new release dates.
Based on the statement from the studio, the upcoming home video releases were delayed to improve the animation quality. This is likely in response to fan criticism of several scenes from the latest season.
For context, fans online have complained about the show’s animation quality during its run. Some have shared screenshots of an episode with visible animation errors.
There have also been complaints about how the new season reuses frames from Season 1, with speculation about how the staff has little to no time to animate scenes properly.

Classroom of the Elite is an anime series by Studio Lerche that’s based on the light novel of the same name by Shogo Kinugasa.
The novel series’ first part ran from May 2015 to September 2019. This was followed by the 2nd year arc which started in January 2020.
The series is set in an alternate version of Japan where the Japanese Government formed the Tokyo Metropolitan Advanced Nursing School. Students in this school are given lots of freedom to learn real-world skills.
While ideal in theory, it’s not so much in practice. Each grade in the school is divided into four classes, and only the top classes are given good treatment.
The story follows Kiyotaka Ayanokoji of Class D, the lowest class. There, he meets classmates Suzune Horikita and Kikyo Kushida, and his school life gets turned on its head.

Classroom of the Elite Season 2 began airing in July 2022. After the show’s run, the Blu-Ray/DVD volumes will be released on these new dates:
- Volume 1 – December 23, 2022 (original date: October 26, 2022)
- Volume 2 – January 25, 2023 (original date: November 25, 2022)
- Volume 3 – February 2, 2023 (original date: December 23, 2022)
- Volume 4 – March 24, 2023 (original date: January 25, 2023)
A third season for the anime is also confirmed to release in 2023.
