Civil War II Has Been Expanded to 8 Issues, Will Have New Ending

Brian Bendis, the writer behind Civil War II, revealed on his Tumblr that the Marvel event has been expanded into an eight issue series because Bendis thought up a "better ending". He explains that the reason for the delays in the series are due to events in the family of the artist, David Marquez. Namely, "he and his amazing wife, Tara, just had a kick-ass baby boy", Bendis explains.

However, Bendis says the series is now back on track and Marquez has been handing in a page a week. He calls the situation "not a delay hell, or a conspiracy, just a new baby in the middle of the hardest issue to draw." He also says, "the ending of [issue] four shows that five is a monster."

According to Comic Book Resources, issue #5 of the Civil War II comic will come out on September 7th. Bendis provided a preview page to tide fans over in the meantime:

The Civil War II event is just the latest Marvel crossover. It has Carol Danvers (Captain Marvel) and Tony Stark (Iron Man) butting heads regarding whether they should utilize a psychic's ability to detect crimes before they happen and arrest people before a crime has been committed. Carol is for it and Tony is against it. The event has already claimed the lives of several heroes, including James Rhodes (War Machine) and Bruce Banner (The Hulk).

I congratulate Marquez on his new baby and think the delays are understandable in light of that. It will be interesting to see the new ending Bendis has come up with. What do you think of the news? How do you think this event will end?
