Favorite Avenger Will Die In Civil War II, You’ll Never Expect Who The Killer Is

Before anything else, there will be spoilers ahead.

It's out—both the killer and the victim in Marvel Comics' Civil War II Issue 3. And before you judge the cover of the issue by its cover, don't. Again, spoilers ahead.

It seems that Dr. Bruce Banner, the Dr. Jekyll to The Hulk's proverbial Hyde, has seen his last page in Civil War II #3, New York Daily News reported in an exclusive release. Speaking with Marvel Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso, the source confirmed that the death will be something that the entire team will be dealing with for a long time.

But more than the death, Alonso also confirmed that an equally big issue is how he died. Because he didn't so much as die as he was killed. And that was at the hands of—for the last time, spoilers—Hawkeye.

Worse, the manner in which he died was almost too brutal: a headshot with an arrow.

Granted, it's not without reason, at least for Hawkeye, because the premise in which he delivers the killing blow is to prevent massive death and blood at the hands of The Hulk. But then again, this is all based on a prediction, despite the fact that Banner has been in check with meds for a year.

All of this supposedly makes sense, and one that Civil War II writer Brian Michael Bendis said will be revealed in time.

"Fans may be outraged, and there are probably Hawkeye writers who I'm very good friends with who will also be offended. But the point is that everything that happens in this issue is in character when you discover the hows and whys and wheres."

While the creators are already expecting fan speculations, arguments, and violent reactions, Bendis hinted that the incident is pretty much the real deal. Whether or not that implies a big "No" to superhero comebacks remains to be seen. But there's another reason to look forward to the next issues—what the creators plan to do next with the body.

Civil War II Issue 3 is already out.
