Christian Bale Reveals Why He Hasn't Seen Robert Pattinson's The Batman Yet

Matt Reeves' reboot of the iconic DC caped crusader with The Batman was a milestone at the box office. Featuring Robert Pattinson as the new Bruce Wayne, the film grossed $770.3 million at the worldwide box office, and a sequel was already greenlit under Warner Bros. More amazingly, two spinoffs are confirmed to premiere on HBO Max that would expand Pattinson's Batverse. However, before Pattinson took over the Batman role, Christian Bale set a gold standard as the Batman in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Trilogy, which was similar to Reeves' grounded and realistic approach.

Christian Bale — who plays Gorr The God Butcher in the upcoming Marvel film Thor: Love and Thunder was recently asked by Variety about his thoughts on Robert Pattinson's The Batman. Unfortunately, Bale hasn't seen it yet. "I still haven't seen it," Bale admitted. "I will see it. Listen mate, I— it's amazing how few films I see. Every director I work with, I've seen a couple of their films, and they're always looking at me going, 'Are you kidding?' I like to really savor films, and I don't want to watch too many. But I will, I certainly will. Robert [Pattinson] is an absolutely wonderful actor. We bumped into each other, talked a little bit about it ahead of time, and I hear wonderful things."

Several A-list actors like Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck have stepped on to the role of Batman but Bale's performance as the caped crusader remains the most accurate and fan-favored of interpretation Bruce Wayne. Although we all have our personal favorite Batman actors, it would certainly be interesting to know what Bale thinks of Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson's The Batman.

Nevertheless, Bale seems positive about officially handing the seal of approval to Robert Pattinson to carry on the Batman mantle. For now, let's hope that Bale finds the time to watch and savor The Batman, despite his extremely busy schedule.

The Batman is available to stream on HBO Max.
