Choi Woo Shik revealed that his career is not always a sunny day for him.

Over a decade since he debuted as an actor, Choi Woo Shik has already become part of several award-winning series and films. It took him almost three years before he landed on his first big break, the 2014 film Set Me Free.

Since then, he started starring in more critically acclaimed Korean flicks, including Train to Busan and Parasite -- the latter won the Palme d'Or at Cannes and the Academy Award for Best Picture.

Although Parasite skyrocketed his career, Choi Woo Shik set records straight about the challenges he faced and the expectations he broke in his career after becoming part of the film.

Choi Woo Shik Thought He Would Have More Offers After Parasite

In his interview with Asia Business Daily, Choi Woo Shik reflected on the expectations he had following the success of Parasite and how he eventually had concerns about his future as an actor.

According to the actor, the film indeed changed his thought process. When he attended the Cannes Film Festival and Academy Awards with director Bong Joon Ho, he reportedly suffered several issues. Fortunately, he was able to "enjoy the moment" and stopped overthinking.

Per the Our Beloved Summer star, he thought he would get a lot of offers overseas after appearing on Parasite. However, it did not happen at all.

"I did get some offers, but not as much as I thought I would. I wondered about what the 'Hollywood dream' entails. I think 'Squid Game' answered that question for me," he said.

Squid Game became one of the latest Korean films that took over the world by storm. But while Choi Woo Shik once felt underwhelmed by his career status, the actor enjoys more attention now following the release of Our Beloved Summer.

In fact, he currently appears in a new film.

Choi Woo Shik Stars in New Action Thriller Film

It had been confirmed that Choi Woo Shik would be part of the first Korean film appearing on big screens amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Titled The Policeman's Lineage, the Canadian-Korean star plays the role of Min Jae, who is tasked to investigate another police officer, Choi Jin Woong's Kang Yoon.

He hinted that the new flick would serve as refreshment as it features cast members in class suits. Per the actor, he always wanted to show a different side of him while wearing a suit.

Luckily, he was finally able to do it as The Policeman's Lineage premiered on January 5.
