Choi Woo Shik Reveals Role on The Policeman's Lineage

On Wednesday, Choi Woo Shik confirmed that he will be part of the first Korean film appearing on big screens, The Policeman's Lineage.

From his usual playful characters, the actor will show his extraordinary fighting spirit as he plays the role of a police officer and a judo expert. His role, Min Jae, receives a task to investigate another police, Cho Jin Woong's Kang Yoon, due to his alleged huge payoffs from yet-to-be-discovered sources.

According to Choi Woo Shik, the film will offer twists and turns due to his character's mindset, especially since he is torn between doing the right things for the wrong reasons or the wrong things for the right reasons.

He explained, as quoted by The Korea Times, "In 'The Witch,' I exerted superhuman strength in fight scenes because I was in a battle with non-humans and I had to climb walls... but then it was a whole new experience with Min-jae. The action sequences were more realistic and therefore less demanding, but I felt like I grew up and became a man with the role."

Choi Woo Shik Earns Director, Co-stars' Approval

During the same press conference for the film, Choi Woo Shik earned praises from the film's director and co-stars, Cho Jin Woo and Park Hee Soon.

Director Lee Gyu Man first shared his thoughts about the actor, saying he is a great one who perfectly has the same personality traits as Min-Jae.

"The first thing I had in mind when thinking of Minjae was that the actor portraying him has to have a transparent mind. Choi already had that and he has the power to deliver it to the audience. While working with him, I felt his potential is limitless," the director said.

Meanwhile, Cho Jin Woo said he once thought Choi Woo Shik was a boy-next-door type. However, he reportedly saw him grow up as a Korean star in the upcoming film where the audience can feel his masculinity he never showed before.

With that, Park Hee Soon expressed how proud he is to see the young actor's transformation.

Choi Woo Sik's The Policeman's Lineage will premiere on January 5.
