The Pirates sequel, The Pirates: Goblin Flag, presented its all-star cast, who promised to offer more adventure to the fans of the movie franchise.

Ahead of the January release, director Kim Jeong Hoon shared the first look of the movie by unveiling several posters introducing its new cast members. The first media materials featured its main cast -- Kang Ha Neul, Han Hyo Joo, Lee Kwang Soo, Chae Soo Bin, EXO's Sehun, Kwon Sang Woo, Park Ju Hwan, and Kim Sung Oh.

While the posters already looked promising enough, the cast members themselves pledged in front of their soon-to-be viewers that they have a lot to offer to them.

What Makes The Pirates: Goblin Flag Different From Prequel

The director and main cast members recently shared what The Pirates fans should expect in the upcoming sequel.

Kang Ha Neul, who plays the role of the head of the bandits Moo-chi, shared that the touch of comedy, despite its genre being action, would make it more interesting to watch.

"It's true that this film is a follow-up to the 2014 hit movie, but it is actually very different. It's set in a different era and the characters are new. But our movie is just as funny and charming as the previous one," he said in a press conference on Wednesday, as quoted by The Korea Times.

The actor's character eventually joins the band of seafarers, headed by Han Hyo Joo's Hae Rang. The pirate crew members are the characters scored by EXO's Sehun, Chae Soo Bin, and Lee Kwang Soo.

Meanwhile, Han Hyo Joo – the actress from the recent highly-acclaimed zombie series Happiness – revealed that she trained for months to learn swordsmanship.

"It wasn't easy for me to act as the leader of the pirates with a powerful force. It was important to me that I let go of any doubts in my mind and just focus on doing sword fights and wire action," she said.

Since she reportedly wanted to look good on screen, she monitored all her movements while preventing to miss details on her wardrobe and hairstyle. Because of that, her co-star showered her with compliments, saying the actress looked extremely cool and charismatic in the movie.

Director Reportedly Faced Extreme Pressure While Working On The Pirates Sequel

As director Kim Jung Hoon also helmed the predecessor, he reportedly felt the weight as he attempted to create something worthy to follow the previous movie, which earned 8.7 million in ticket sales in 2014.

For what it's worth, The Pirates saw more than 272,000 viewers during the first two days of its release. It starred Son Ye Jin and Kim Nam Gil.

Per the filmmaker, they received so much love as the film performed well on big screens. But with the sequel, he reportedly worked hard to continue the story and give justice to its usual comedy.

Fans will finally see the fruit of their labor during the premiere of The Pirates in January.
