Chloe Grace Moretz As DC’s Supergirl Stuns In New Fan Art

January is almost at its end, and with no definite date for when James Gunn and Peter Safran will announce some part of their new DC slate, every day has to be something that has the possibility of being the day. Following the aftermath of DC Studios dropping some old projects and actors, new actors have a chance to emerge in the superhero franchise. Aside from the fan casting that happens every now and then, fan art always does its magic in reimagining if an actor fits enough to be this specific superhero, like this art that sees Chloe Grace Moretz as DC’s Supergirl.

Over the years, Moretz has already made her name in the Hollywood scene after appearing in some successful films like Carrie (2013) and If I Stay (2014). Despite being excellent in the genres of horror and romance, fans have been urging the 5th Wave to explore the superhero genre. In 2022, Moretz addressed whether she would ever be open to assuming any superhero roles from DC or Marvel.

“I would be really interested in playing a villain in Marvel or DC, and jumping into more of the darker side of the role,” she told ComicBook.com. “I love superheroes. I think that'd be really fun, too, but I think it's just all about finding the one that really matches what you're wanting to get across, and the scope of the character. I think it'd be really fun if it was the right role and the right project.”

Sasha Calle had previously been cast as Supergirl in The Flash, with the intention of having her appear in multiple other projects, but with the DCEU in disarray, Supergirl’s fate remains uncertain in the new DC slate. We have seen Henry Cavill lose his Superman, so anything that happens now will not be surprising but can be disappointing. While it’s possible that Gunn and Safran will keep Calle in the role to interact with their new Superman, official announcements will only be something that fans can hold on to.

While we wait for the decade's biggest reveal and Gunn's decision on the future of the DC Universe, fan pressure may influence his decision. Fan art like this one posted by horrific.heroics may tip the scales in favor of fan favorites and provide DC Studios with the right idea for the right direction.
