LaRoyce Hawkins will reprise his role as Kevin Atwater in Chicago PD Season 10. Atwater's storyline in Season 9 focused on his relationship with Celeste and his future views on what it means to be a police officer. More recently, he shared a sneak peek of the new season on his Instagram.
Hawkins, Patrick John Flueger, and Jesse Lee Soffer are all dressed professionally in the sneak peek image that was uploaded to Hawkins' Instagram Stories. The men appear to be dressed very formally in the image, which was taken and posted on Reddit. The formal clothing is for Chicago PD Season 10, according to Hawkins.

Kevin Atwater Could See a Promotion in Chicago PD Season 10
Screen Rant speculates that the official uniforms shown in LaRoyce Hawkins' Instagram image could signal that a funeral would take place in Chicago PD.
However, Reddit users believe that a member of the Intelligence Unit has been promoted to detective. With Hawkins in the forefront and him questioning his status in the team, he could be the one to get the promotion.
“I still say Kim, Ruzek, AND Atwater make detective because of that drug bust,” one Reddit user mentioned, referring to the end of Chicago PD Season 9. “I mean, Kim should’ve made detective years ago with her record. It may be unlikely to happen IRL, but on TV, sure, and IRL, they all would have been detectives long ago.”

“My guess: One (or all) of the Intelligence officers (Kim, Adam, Kevin) is either receiving an award or getting promoted to detective for the drug bust they made at the end of last season … but I suppose we’ll have to wait to find out for sure,” another Reddit user wrote.

Given the photo LaRoyce Hawkins uploaded, it's safe to believe he, Jesse Lee Soffer, and Patrick John Flueger will be back for the upcoming season. Marina Squerciati and Tracy Spiridakos both shared photos of their first days back on set. Amy Morton and Jason Beghe are expected to return as well.
Benjamin Levy Aguilar has also been upgraded to series regular, according to Deadline. Aguilar portrayed Dante Torres, who appeared later in Season 9. He joins the Intelligence Unit as a rookie.
