Showrunners Derek Haas and Andrea Newman addressed the return of the show’s villain, Emma Jacobs (Caitlin Carver), and how it would affect Chicago Fire Season 11.
The fall finale featured a lot of surprises, with some characters left in danger. So, how will Emma’s comeback reshape Chicago Fire Season 11 when it returns?
In an interview with TVLine, Haas and Newman discussed Emma’s return.
For starters, Carver’s role was last seen in the previous season finale, being fired from her job as a pracademic. At the time, she started to panic and abandoned a pregnant in dire need of help.
Now, she wants to take her revenge against Violet (Hanako Greensmith). So, how will things go on from here in Chicago Fire Season 11?
“[Emma] was so good last year at playing that, that bringing Caitlin back just was top of mind,” Haas said. “We didn’t know where or when we would fit her in, but winter finales are always fun for these kinds of [obstacles], and we wanted it to be a big surprise, but not be the end of the episode, because sometimes you want people just going, “Oh, God, what else is coming?”
Newman revealed that they both love Emma.
“We love our villains, but the character is so fun because she just does not see herself as a villain at all,” she stated. “So it’s like the way our guys feel about her versus the way she sees her place at 51. She feels completely connected to 51, and that’s a fun thing to explore, too.”

From there, Haas teased that fans would see more of her when the show returns in January.
“Let’s just say that of all the characters who probably shouldn’t mess with her; Violet raises her hand. [Laughs],” he added.
What Will Happen in the Continuation of Chicago Fire Season 11?
Aside from Emma’s return, Chicago Fire Season 11 will also reveal the fate of Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) and Carver (Jake Lockett) after a grenade detonated at the end of Episode 9, Nemesis.
Although everybody knows that they will survive, the fallout from the incident will have major effects on the two.
In the preview of the show’s return, Kidd and Severide (Taylor Kinney) are seen to be having some turbulence in their relationship.
By the looks of it, Kidd’s tragic experience will put some distance between her and Severide.
Chicago Fire Season 11 will continue on January 4.
