Charlie Cox Disses Ben Affleck's Daredevil Suit

Charlie Cox has been out and about around social media after he reprised his role as Daredevil in Spider-Man: No Way Home, teasing fans that there is more to his Netflix series, especially with the arrival of Kingpin around the same time in Hawkeye. However, while he remains to be the Matt Murdock that most people know, Ben Affleck also had a rendition of the character, too, and Cox just dissed his suit.

Daredevil had two notable renditions as the 2000s arrived: first is Ben Affleck’s 2003 movie and the second being Charlie Cox’s Netflix series. Most people would recall Cox being Daredevil but Affleck, known to portray Batman in the Dark Knight, was first to play the character in a film.

Cox will be reprising the role once more now that he is in the MCU but when asked about Affleck’s version, the suit was what didn’t make the cut for him. While in an event in Abu Dhabi, at the Middle East Film and Comic-Con, as reported by The Direct, Cox got asked what he thought of the version of Ben Affleck that came out in 2003 and his reply says it all.

Charlie Cox only watched it once for reference and he praised Ben Affleck for his rendition of Matt Murdock, however, the totality of the movie didn’t really appeal to him, “After I got the role. I hadn’t seen it before I got the role. I watched it when I got the role and, to be fair… I think Ben Affleck does a really good Matt Murdock, I like his Matt Murdock… I don’t love the movie.”

Cox added that the movie was too much packed that it gets confusing, “I feel like the movie tried to do too much and it was a little tonally confused. They had everyone in that movie, they had Kingpin, they had Bullseye, they had Elektra, they had Karen Page, they had Foggy. It was saturated and it’s two hours. So that was part of that problem.”

The most notable response of Cox was on the suit of Ben Affleck as Daredevil, “The suit sucks!”

Charlie Cox is expected to have his own show or film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Daredevil 4 is reportedly entering into production and while he said that the MCU need not follow the Netflix series and make it canon, what matters today is that he would be back for the beloved role and everyone is excited to see him come face-to-face with Kingpin once more.
