Daredevil Star Charlie Cox Doesn't Want Anyone Else Playing Matt Murdock

It's hard to imagine anybody else other than Charlie Cox playing Daredevil and it looks like the Defenders star wants to keep it that way. Cox has just staked his claim on the role, saying he'll go after his possible replacement and make them fight for the right to play Matt Murdock.

There is little doubt that Daredevil was a huge role for Cox. After all, the Stardust actor went through rigorous training to play the Devil of Hell's Kitchen. Although the series has since been canceled by Marvel, fans have been holding on to hope that the characters introduced in the Netflix show will eventually join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

So what are the chances that Daredevil will be recast once he makes his MCU debut? Cox has heard about the possibility that a different actor will play the Man Without Fear in Spider-Man: No Way Home. The former Downton Abbey star was recently a guest on SiriusXM's Pop Culture Spotlight podcast where he revealed what he would do to the new Daredevil actor.

"I would go down into my basement," Cox said. "I would find my Daredevil mask [and then] hunt them down. I'd make them fight me for it."

It shouldn't be a huge surprise that Cox feels this way considering that he had to prove himself worthy of the role back in 2015. In addition to that, most fans still support Cox and are fighting for the possible renewal of Daredevil. With that in mind, the actor who would replace Cox as Daredevil is in for some major challenges.

There have been several speculations about Cox reprising his role in Spider-Man 3. However, Cox has repeatedly denied his involvement in the project. Still, most people are unconvinced and are already looking forward to seeing him in action again in No Way Home.

It is unclear if Cox will appear in the upcoming MCU film. Spider-Man: No Way Home is currently scheduled to premiere in theaters on December 17, 2021.
