The first season of Chainsaw Man has finally ended, and it was praised for being a fitting finale to the first major story arc. Though many Chainsaw Man fans also heaped lots of praise toward the anime-original slice-of-life scenes.

Specifically, Episode 12’s ending consisted of a mostly anime-original sequence featuring Denji, Power, and Aki as they buy food to celebrate their successful mission.

Based on fans’ reactions on Twitter and Reddit, this scene is a welcome addition.

For the most part, the Chainsaw Man anime is faithful to its manga source material as it featured only little deviations from the original story.

The omission of the Muscle Devil is probably the only big omission from the manga.

The anime isn’t a 1:1 adaptation though as it adds some brand-new scenes, most of which expanded the quieter moments of the manga.

While anime-original additions are always a risk for a beloved manga, most fans seem to have enjoyed these brand-new scenes.

For instance, while Himeno was a significant character in the manga, the anime went beyond the source material by putting the spotlight on her more.

Specifically, the anime featured lots of scenes featuring Himeno flashbacks.

Another well-received original scene is Aki’s daily routine in Episode 4.

Most fans loved this scene as it provided a nice change of pace from the frantic Bat Devil fight -- not to mention that Aki is one of the series’ most popular characters.

Instead of a typical ending sequence, MAPPA animated an entire anime-only sequence featuring the main trio buying food to celebrate.

This slice-of-life sequence ran alongside the 12th and last Chainsaw Man ending song entitled Fight Song by Eve.

Aside from being a nice breather to the frantic events of the Katana Man fight, fans also praised the sequence for being a great bookend to Denji’s arc from the first episode.

Aside from praise for the sequence, Eve’s latest song was also acclaimed by fans.

Fans compared this new song favorably to Jujutsu Kaisen's first opening song titled Kaikai Kitan which is also sung by Eve and animated by MAPPA.

While this is technically the episode’s ending, the finale has an extended post-credits scene that features a glimpse into what will happen next.

Specifically, it features a quick appearance from Reze, a major character in the next arc.

Right now, there’s no word yet on a second season for Chainsaw Man.
