Chainsaw Man Part 2 is much more complicated than the Public Safety arc, where most characters seemed to work towards a common goal. So, what are Chainsaw Man’s factions, and what does each party want?

Chainsaw Man’s Factions, Explained
What we know about the Chainsaw Man manga changes almost every week, as the manga makes more and more revelations.
That being said, we can roughly divide the characters into groups based on what each of them does, and what their true goals are.
Denji's Goals Are Still Simple
Recent revelations confirm that Denji is still a largely one-man team.
He and Nayuta care about each other and have each other’s backs, but Nayuta isn’t as innocent as he would have liked to keep her.
In recent chapters, Nayuta shows understanding far beyond Denji’s own; she is the Control Devil, after all.
Asa and Yoru Are Together, But Their Goals Don't Align
Asa and Yoru, the War Devil, are also essentially their team, even though they recently joined the Chainsaw Man Church, thinking it would benefit their opposing goals.
Yoru only occupied Asa’s body because she had no choice, as she needed someone who would help her understand life as a human.
For her part, Asa was always a lone wolf and intends to stay that way, although her interest in helping Chainsaw Man proves that she is not without a heart.
The Chainsaw Man Church Lured Too Many Into a Mess
The Chainsaw Man Church was founded by Fami, the Famine Devil.
Since she only works behind the scenes, Haruka Iseumi served as the face of the organization, while a middle-aged director ran the Church and its weapon supplies.
The Church recruited thousands of young people by appealing to their sense of justice and manipulated them into forming contracts with the Fire Devil.
However, these young people were mere pawns, serving Fami’s ultimate goals.
Fami and Nayuta Want to Prevent the Apocalypse
Fami is with the Chainsaw Man Church but also works with Nayuta, her “little sister” to prevent the Nostradamus Prophecy and preserve the world as it is. Nayuta reveals that she’s on board with that goal.
In that sense, the Church is only the means to an end, with many of its members having joined without really knowing what the organization was about.
Public Safety Is Keeping the Peace — Or Are They?
Public Safety is still aiming to keep the peace and eliminate Devils. Now that Makima isn’t part of it, the organization can truly serve this goal. Of course, this is not to say that they will be honorable about it.
Public Safety has used people like Fumiko Mifune to keep Denji in line and prevent him from further Chainsaw Man transformations.
Theoretically, Yoshida is also with Public Safety, but he’s also part of a secret organization with mysterious goals.
Death Devil
In recent chapters, Nayuta has revealed that the big bad everyone should fight against is her and Fami’s “eldest sister”, the Death Devil.
The Death Devil is the prophesied “King of Terror” who will end humanity and bring about an era of Devils.
So, What Does Each Faction Want?
What makes Chainsaw Man truly interesting is that it moves beyond a good vs. evil battle. Everyone has their agenda, and no faction is completely good (though some of them are all bad!).
Denji remains a simple hero with simpler goals. He just wants to live a normal life, have plenty of food, and get a girlfriend.
He used to enjoy glory as Chainsaw Man but had to forgo that for the good of keeping Nayuta safe. Taking care of her as his little sister is his top priority.
Meanwhile, Asa wants to get rid of Yoru and make her life her own again. Since Denji saved her from the Falling Devil, the desire to protect Chainsaw Man also influences her actions, allowing Fami to manipulate her into joining the Church.
Yoru, on the other hand, wants to kill her nemesis, Chainsaw Man. Fami managed to convince her and Asa that the Chainsaw Man they’re after is two people, rather than one.
Fami’s real goal is to prevent the reign of terror the Death Devil wants to establish.
Since Fami loves the food of the human world, she doesn’t want the era of Devils to destroy humanity. Nayuta now shares her motivation, too.
The Chainsaw Man Church members didn’t all have the same goals, as the Church was a façade to make Fami’s wish possible.
Different individual members joined to take revenge against Devils who killed their loved ones, out of misguided loyalty to Chainsaw Man, or simply for fun.
Yoshida wants to keep Denji from becoming Chainsaw Man ever again. His organization doesn’t want the world to find out Denji is Chainsaw Man under any circumstances. Why Yoshida works toward this goal is still a mystery.
As for the Death Devil, she wants to eradicate humanity and make the whole world a place for Devils. If there’s anything more complex about her, we’ll find out in future chapters.
