Chainsaw Man Creator Writes New One-Shot for Shonen Jump Titled "Look Back"

Can't get enough of Tatsuki Fujimoto's amazing drawings? Well, it's a good thing the mangaka of the famous Chainsaw Man has a new one-shot coming up real soon!

The one-shot was first announced during the Chainsaw Man panel at the MAPPA Stage 2021 event. Earlier today, more details were released regarding the upcoming work.

The new one-shot by Fujimoto is called Look Back. It might as well be a whole manga volume—considering that the story will be 140 pages long. As of writing, there are no updates yet as to what the plot is about.

Look Back will be released in Shōnen Jump+ on July 19, 2021.

Tatsuki Fujimoto was born in 1993. His most prominent works are Fire Punch and Chainsaw Man. Fujimoto has released numerous one-shots throughout the course of his career, which were published on various platforms. Many of these one-shots have gathered nominations and awards as well.

Currently, Fujimoto's most popular work is Chainsaw Man. It follows the story of a boy named Denji—who becomes a human-devil hybrid after merging with his devil-dog Pochita. With his new abilities, he gets recruited by the Public Safety Devil Hunters, where his life is surely about to become even more chaotic and deadly. The manga was awarded "Best Shōnen Manga" at the 66th Shogakukan Manga Awards.

In December 2020, it was announced that MAPPA will be handling the anime adaptation of Chainsaw Man. During MAPPA's 10th-anniversary event, a new trailer was released alongside the list of the production staff. Fans certainly can't wait for the much-awaited series to be aired. Although maybe some fans are getting a little too excited—especially the Makima stans.

While we don't know what Look Back will be about just yet, we can only wonder if it's going to be just as action-packed as Fujimoto's other works.
