Castlevania Directors Explain How Lost Characters Returned in Final Season

The final season of Castlevania concluded by teasing the future for the main characters. However, Season 4 also had people scratching their heads over the return of two particular characters who were killed off in the first and second seasons.

But how exactly were Vlad Dracula Tepes and his wife Lisa brought back? Directors Adam and Samuel Deats have offered an interesting explanation for the resurrection.

In Season 4's penultimate episode The Endings, it was revealed that Germain wanted to bring back the souls of Dracula and Lisa to bring the Rebis to life and use its power to find his missing lover in the Corridor. However, Trevor Belmont kills the Rebis and releases the couple's souls.

At first, it looked like Dracula and Lisa may have ended up back in Hell. However, the final moments of the series finale confirm that they are in London where they are pretending to be commoners ready for a fresh start.

But how did these souls manage to walk on Earth considering that they don't have their bodies in the first place? The Deats pointed out during Geeked Week that "their bodies are gone at this point. So their souls when released from Death, they manifested physical forms."

At this point, it's unclear if we'll get to find out what happened to Dracula and Lisa after the events in the series finale. Perhaps the truth will be revealed if another Castlevania spin-off show is announced in the future.

Castlevania Season 4 is now streaming on Netflix.
