Captain Marvel's Existence Possibly Teased In Iron Man 2

There's no doubt that Captain Marvel will reveal herself as the greatest hero of the Marvel Cinematic Universe this year. However, it looks like Phil Coulson may have hinted at that fact way before anyone even suspected that Carol Danvers will join the MCU.

A post on Reddit points out an interesting exchange between Agent Coulson and Tony Stark in Iron Man 2. Clark Gregg's character wishes Tony good luck before stating that SHIELD needs him. Tony replies that he is more important that Coulson knows. Interestingly, the agent's response is sly and possibly foreboding.

This isn't the first time that Coulson has suggested to Tony that he isn't as important as he believes he is. In the first Iron Man film, the agent blatantly told Tony that he isn't his first rodeo. Interestingly, Gregg himself had told Entertainment Weekly that Carol might be the first truly powerful being his character had encountered.

"He's a bit of a new guy in SHIELD." Gregg had said. "He's a lot younger. It's the earliest we will have seen him, so when he says, ‘Mr. Stark, this isn't my first rodeo' in Iron Man, this is maybe the rodeo he's talking about."

We're certainly excited to see just how Coulson deals with a powerful Kree warrior in Captain Marvel. A clip from the film has revealed that Coulson actually witnesses Carol taking on a Skrull on top of a moving train and there is little doubt that this could only be the start of the major action in the movie.

Captain Marvel hits theaters on March 8.
