Captain Marvel Expected To Win Biggest North American Debut During Its Opening Weekend

There's a lot of excitement building up over Captain Marvel and it shows on the film's box office tracking numbers. Marvel's first film of the year is introducing the franchise's strongest Avenger and it looks like Brie Larson's debut as Carol Danvers is definitely going to be a big hit with the film tracking at a $100 million plus debut here in North America.

According to The Hollywood Reporter,Captain Marvel is now looking at a strong opening box office weekend with the tracking numbers in North America coming to above $100 million. If the film manages to go past Jurassic World: The Fallen Kingdom's $148 million North American opening, then Captain Marvel might have the biggest domestic box office debut.

Though it remains to be seen whether or not the film makes it past that number, fans are betting a lot on Captain America. Not only will the film bring Carol Danvers into the MCU, but it will also stand as Marvel's very first female-led standalone movie.

Still, even if the film were to debut with a little over $100 million plus in North America, Captain Marvel would still remain a winner, surpassing forerunners like Ant-Man and the Wasp which earned $75 million at the domestic box office during its opening. It would also beat films like Doctor Strange and its $85 million opening, Guardians of the Galaxy and its $94 million opening, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and its $95 million, Iron Man and its $98 million domestic opening.

But we're not giving up yet. With so much anticipation building over the film, we're sure it'll break records.

Captain Marvel premieres March 8, 2019.
